The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides up to $1,026 in dental benefits for eligible children aged 0–17 over two consecutive calendar years. This covers check-ups, cleans, X-rays, fillings, fissure sealants and extractions. Bilby Dental bulk bills all CDBS-eligible treatments — meaning no gap payment and no out-of-pocket cost for you.
We’re a family-friendly practice and love seeing kids. Our team is experienced with nervous young patients — we use gentle techniques, plain language, and a patient approach to make every visit positive. We also offer happy gas (nitrous oxide) for particularly anxious children.
Bilby Dental is a preferred provider for Medibank, NIB, TUH and CBHS. As a preferred provider, members of these funds pay reduced or zero out-of-pocket costs for preventive treatments like check-ups and cleans on most extras policies. We also accept BUPA, HCF, HBF and all other major health funds. We have HICAPS on-site for instant health fund claiming — just tap your card and go.
For most patients, we recommend every six months. Some patients with a history of gum disease, decay, or other risk factors may benefit from visits every three to four months. At your first appointment, your dentist will recommend a schedule tailored to your oral health. Skipping check-ups often leads to small problems becoming large (and expensive) ones — prevention really is the best medicine.

For most patients, a check-up and clean is completely comfortable. Some sensitivity is normal if you have inflamed gums or haven’t been to the dentist in a while — but this settles quickly. We use gentle techniques and will always check in with you throughout the appointment.
A standard check-up and clean takes around 45–60 minutes. First-time patients may take a little longer as we complete a full dental history and examination.
