Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is the Practice Principal at Bilby Dental and a registered Oral Health Therapist. Originally from New Zealand, he completed his Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Otago in 2013 and has worked across public, private and corporate settings in both countries since — more than 13 years in the field.

He is calm, clear and takes particular care with patients who find dental visits difficult — and with anyone who hasn’t seen a dentist in a long time. Rohit explains every step in plain language before he starts, so there are no surprises in the chair. Gentle, patient and genuinely on your side.

Common questions
I haven’t been to the dentist in years. Where do we start?
With a look and a conversation, not a treatment plan you didn’t ask for. Rohit will check what’s going on, tell you plainly what he sees, and work out an order to tackle it in — often over several visits rather than all at once. Nobody here is going to make you feel bad about the gap.
What’s the difference between an oral health therapist and a dentist?
An oral health therapist is a registered dental practitioner trained in preventive and restorative care — check-ups, cleans, gum treatment, fillings and children’s dentistry. Work outside that scope is handled by one of our dentists, in the same practice, so nothing needs to be referred elsewhere.
Rohit’s approach
If it has been years since your last visit, Rohit is a good place to start. He has spent his career across a wide mix of practices and has seen every version of “I know I should have come in sooner” — there is no lecture, just a plan.
He moved to Melbourne in 2016 to broaden his scope of practice through postgraduate study, and patient education has stayed high on his agenda ever since — he wants you to understand your own mouth, not just sit through a clean.
As Practice Principal he also sets the tone for the whole team at our Waldron Street practice: take the time, explain the options, and let the patient decide.
