At Bilby Dental, we can use nitrous oxide, also known as happy gas to calm and sedate patients that feel pain and/or anxiety during dental treatments. This is extremely useful for children or patients that have had anxiety about the dentist in the past.

Happy Gas is a sedative that is given to the patient in the dental chair through a small nosepiece fitted over the nose. The gas makes the patient feel sleepy and relaxed while not putting them to sleep. The patient will still be aware of what is happening around them but will feel happy and warm as if in a dream.

After the treatment is over the Happy Gas will cease and the patient will quickly return to normal, ready to carry on with their day.
